This is a curious little shop. It took a long time to realise that, what I took to be broken letter in their sign (the final ‘e’ of ‘Merengue’) was in fact attached to a motor that ticked around much like the second hand of a clock. The quirkiness of the sign permeates the entire shop. Merengue Hand Made works with a group of artists from a studio around the corner on C/ Llibertat, and it’s great to see them actively supporting local talent. They’ve got an interesting range of bespoke items from curious lights to cake-inspired jewellery and it is also the only shop I’ve ever encountered that provides a facility for making a miniature model of yourself, or, indeed, anyone else for that matter.
