La Cereria

Don’t you just love those places that combine two into one? Somewhere you are not sure what will come next. Well La Cerería is one of those places. A place that has transmorped from a workshop for bamboo wind instruments, into a restaurant before you reach your table. Don’t be put off by the fireman’s pipes and gauges in the corner; this place is haute cuisine. Simply the best vegetarian food I can imagine in meat-crazy Barcelona. A selection of dips that make one daydream of the Cedars of Lebanon; subtle textures in nutty pizzas that make the guts grin, and a location, ringed by dusty ironwork on a passage a stone’s throw from the seat of Catalan government on Baixada de Sant Miquel. If you don’t know where it is, you may have trouble finding it, but all the best two-in-one places are always like that.
