Espai Sucre
We were looking forward to visiting Espai Sucre – a haute cuisine desert restaurant – for some time. But when it came to ordering it wasn’t easy. With difficult decisions to be made choosing between the set menus, complicated by trying to make sure that no one ordered the same thing, it took some time. Staff in the meantime, clearly bemused by our enthusiasm and indecision, were helpful and added to the anticipation of what was finally ordered.
We went for both of the tasting menus. Having come this far, it would be just wrong to miss out on anything. Six courses combining savoury and sweet concoctions were ordered and that was it.
Suffice to say that the whole experience was pure indulgence, expensive but I think it was worth it. It was quite difficult the next day to recall exactly what we had eaten, as the combinations push the limits of what you are familiar with. Some were really incredible like the virgin olive oil cake with peaches and the Mariluisa (spearmint) soup!
Whether for the big all-in experience or just to stop by for some deserts after having dinner somewhere else (not a bad idea at all) this is a great restaurant that’s really quite a different experience.
