Museu del Calçat

The Barri Gótic was practically built by medieval trade guilds (you can see many of the tombs of famous guild-ists in the cathedral) an one of the biggest of all was the shoemakers’ guild.  The proof of the pudding is this handsome 16th century building, first their headquarters and now a curious little shoe museum.  Those expecting to see vintage Manolos or Elton John extravagazas maybe a little disapointed. Instead the small collection concentrates on the craft, with Roman sandals, plenty of espadenyas (Catalan peasant shoes) and a few pairs of celebrity footwear. Closed Monday and afternoons.
