Whilst Barcelona has a healthy number of cinemas screening films in their original language (such as the Verdi and Maldá), places showing art-house, re-runs, autor and indie cinema are thin on the ground. The cosy little Méliès fills the gap for film buffs, screening European films, the old classics and playing host to the city’s smaller festivals such as the African Film Festival.
